General FAQ’s
Activities Bus
An activities bus is
available for students who stay after school for a school sponsored event
(i.e. tutoring, club meeting, athletic practice, etc.). Students must
already be eligible for bus transportation (i.e. they ride the regular
school bus). An Activities Bus Pass can be obtained from the media
center. The bus departs at 5:00 and 6:30. See Ms. McKinney for additional
information.
Admission/Registration
requirements
Since Miami Palmetto Senior is a public neighborhood high school, there is
no “application” process. All incoming students who reside within the
boundaries served by Palmetto must follow the school district’s
registration
requirements.
Boundaries
Palmetto is located in the Village of Pinecrest and serves the surrounding
neighborhoods of East Kendall, Palmetto Bay, portions of the Falls Area,
and portions of Perrine. You may view the
exact boundaries
of the school. To determine if your (intended) address is served by
Palmetto, you may check the district’s
school boundary information.
Grades Online
In order to view a child’s grades on line, parents must first visit the
school in person and with proper ID to receive a 6 digit Parent PIN
number. Parents must then go to the school districts
Parent Portal and create an account following the instructions and
prompts provided. Students may also access their grades online following a
similar process, but through the
Student Portal
Lost and
Found
The
Lost and Found is located in the attendance office. Students may come to
the Attendance Office and describe the item in question. A Lost and Found
is also located in the media center, but only for items found in the media
center. Please remember that the school in not responsible for lost
or stolen electronic devices or other valuables. Please review the
Electronic Devices Policy
Transportation
For
questions about school bus transportation, contact the school district’s

for all 11th and 12th grade students needing to
re-take the FCAT. Additionally tutoring in Math and Reading is available
in the media center on a regular basis. Online tutoring via Skills Tutor
is available 24/7. Contact Ms. Coggins

Registering for
College Board Exams
Students should register
to take the PSAT in October of their junior year. This is the National
Merit Scholarship Qualifying test and results will attract college’s
interest. Students should register on line to take the SAT (collegeboard.com)
and ACT (act.org) second semester of their junior year, as many
times as possible. Students enrolled in AP classes should take the SAT II
in June if your college requires this test. Save the information from any
AP tests as you will want to send AP scores of 3 or above to colleges.
Many selective colleges require SAT II for entrance or placement. For
more information, contact your assigned counselor.
School Code
When registering online to take the SAT or ACT, you will be asked to enter the school's code. That number is: 101-623.
Scholarships
Ms. Coords, the College Assistance Program (CAP) advisor, maintains a
website of important scholarship information. Visit the
CAP site often for the latest information.
